I was born and raised in New Era and often took family trips to Ludington up to the time I moved here in 2011. My ancestors settled in the area along Mason/Oceana county line. Some moved into Ludington and set up businesses and some stayed on the farm. I grew up learning farm work and field work, and watched my mother go back to college after she had a health challenge when I was a teenager, and watched my dad work a job all day and still come home and work the farm. My parents made sure we also had fun and would drive us up to Ludington to see the old family lands, play in Lake Michigan, and go canoeing and fishing on the rivers and lakes. My dad reminded me once of my childhood declaration that someday I would live in Ludington.

As a girl, I had daily chores, was involved in extracurricular school activities, church, and family but I still finished my homework and devoted much time to the Bible and prayer.

I've worked different jobs throughout my life and when I lived in Grand Rapids for 28 years, but after a health crisis at age 32 (27 years ago) and told by two specialists I had 2 weeks to a few months to live, and nothing could save me, my medical doctor told me I might find hope with a doctor of naturopath. Immediately, I found someone going to school for naturopathy who gave me Hope. It took a lot of determination to overcome the illness, but I vowed to live and to go back to college like my mother did and become a doctor of naturopathy. I earned my credentials from Trinity School of Natural Health, passed the national board exams with high marks, and took many, many extra courses to specialize in Lyme disease and chronic illness using natural methods such as herbs, homeopathics, magnets, and frequency therapy.
